While there are many artists mushrooming from every corner of the world each day, the oversaturated industry lacks authenticity today. Upcoming artist Sabathil realized that there is a considerable gap in need of uniqueness in the music industry. With his new single entitled “Like Me,” he fearlessly aims to resurrect what the landscape has lost.
Born Melvin G. Acquaah in the Bronx, New York, Sabathil embodies what a true music artist should be. He was raised in Jersey but currently lives in Arizona, pursuing his dream of becoming one of the biggest stars in the music industry to honor his late brother, Thaahum. He was also a local artist from Arizona whose name means “commander of the stars.”
Thaahum bestowed Sabathil his name, which means “the universe above all.” Together with his brother, the artist built a dream to conquer the industry with their music someday. They formed a small group of musicians called ETMCs, along with four other local artists, but the success of the group was short-lived. Still, the duo persevered to carve their mark in the national music scene by performing in local shows.
Sabathil and Thaahum performed an opening for the group called Souls of Mischief. They also collaborated with the renowned film director Adam Rifkin. The duo has also worked with Jay and Silent Bob, broadening their horizons outside the indie hip hop music scene into the realm of film and comedy. Together, the brothers performed parodies by creating the song called “Baby Mama Drama Ills” and “Blue Balls,” both featured in the Showtime series called Look!
Today, Sabathil is continuing the legacy of his brother Thaahum by releasing his first album called Alpha Centauri, a project the artist promised he would release to music lovers someday. Simultaneously, the artist is also launching his new single called Like Me, a song that serves as a testament to his uniqueness as an artist. It gives listeners a preview of his lifestyle and the qualities that makes him rise above other artists today. “I stand out as an artist because I sound like no other artist,” he proudly said.
Like Me was produced by the artist’s own music label called Sabathil720. Asked what motivated him to build his brand, the artist shared that he wanted complete artistic freedom in producing his music. Through his label, the artist shared that he creates the way he needs to make music, the way music should be, sound, and feel—the kind of music that touches the deepest corners of the soul. On a mission to revive the music industry, Sabathil uses his talent, heart, and mindset to spark change.
“My late brother and the universe has put me in this position to succeed. Nothing is by coincidence,” said Sabathil. Additionally, the artist envisions using his talent to inspire other upcoming artists and positively impact his listeners. In five years, he aims to go higher and venture into movies and modeling, besides music. He also wants his label to provide artists with opportunities to perform and prove themselves to the world.
