YouTube star and beauty influencer Tati Westbrook has emerged from a year of silence through a new YouTube video that she released to update her 8.85 million subscribers about her whereabouts and what has happened to her since becoming inactive on her various social media channels.
The YouTube video entitled A Year Later outlines the past events of Westbrook’s life by far, including light details like her move to rainy Seattle to an ongoing legal battle with one of her business partners. All in all, Tati touches on the parts of her life that she shares that have been challenging ever since she stopped posting any content on her YouTube channel and deactivated her Instagram account. One of the most significant updates was a case filed against her and her husband, James Westbrook. However, contrary to what many of her fans believed, the lawsuit didn’t come from Jefree Star; it came from her Halo Beauty business partner, Clark Swanson.
“I was recently informed that Clark Swanson had been feeding information, disparaging information, to drama channels about myself, about my husband, my family, info about Halo Beauty, financials, the pipeline of product launches, the kind of stuff that should never be shared under any circumstances,” explains Tati Westbrook on her video. “Finding this out really signaled to me that this, in my opinion, feels like sabotage and has made me want to go the distance and not stop the fight for justice in this particular situation.”
Tati Westbrook is a former image consultant and makeup artist who made a name for herself on YouTube. She started under the name GlamLifeGuru, and then later changed the channel name to Tati. What first started as a makeup tutorial and review video would later grow into an empire of beauty products and everything related to makeup and adjacent products and services.
Newsweek reported at one point how many thought of Tati as “a progenitor of YouTube’s beauty scene” and “the mother of the YouTube beauty community.” The influencer reached her first million back in 2016 and grew it to 10 million at one point after people flocked to her account after a back and forth exchange with another YouTube star James Charles.
Another update that Tati shared with her audience was the strain that the last year had put on her relationship with her husband, James. “It’s kind of gone from a Lifetime movie, because there are so many crazy parts, to maybe like a thriller?” shared Tati. “And then I’m hopeful for a Hallmark ending, a happily ever after.”
Some watchers noticed how Westbrook didn’t have her wedding ring on, but she would later clarify that it was due to losing it during the move from Los Angeles to Seattle. The YouTuber also shared that she would be returning to doing videos very soon but asked only that people would stop casting predictions about where her career and life were going. “I’m going to keep charging forward. However, when it comes to things like psychics, mediums, tarot readers, I have closed that door in the spiritual realm, and I am asking not to be used in any way, shape, or form in videos involving divination,” Tati pleaded.
