California-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Randall Rahn, better known as runnerthewriter, is captivating audiences with his unique blend of catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. With his powerful vocals and relatable storytelling, runnerthewriter is making waves in the music industry, inspiring listeners to find hope and strength in the face of adversity.
Born into a challenging environment, runnerthewriter faced significant hurdles from a young age. Raised by parents struggling with addiction to methamphetamines and alcohol, he experienced homelessness, living in hostels and motels filled with addicts. Enduring flea-infested floors, hunger, and abandonment, runnerthewriter and his siblings were forced to grow up far too quickly. Their lives were marred by domestic abuse and the constant struggle to survive.
At the age of thirteen, runnerthewriter’s older brother gifted him a worn, off-brand electric guitar. In a world filled with chaos and instability, the guitar became his solace. Music provided an escape from the harsh reality he faced daily, offering him a sense of purpose and belonging. Despite living in a small room with minimal resources, runnerthewriter taught himself to play every song he heard on a small radio, fueling his passion for music.
Shortly after, runnerthewriter joined his first band, No Sense, a pop-punk/emo group from Lomita, CA. The band quickly gained popularity in the South Bay, selling out shows and winning local battles of the bands. As runnerthewriter’s talent and reputation grew, he found himself opening for his favorite bands and headlining venues across California, from Hollywood to San Diego.
At just fifteen years old, runnerthewriter was living his dreams. Autograph signings, fan photos, and packed shows became a regular part of his life. Even in his solo career as November Blessing, he experienced moments of fame, with devoted fans getting his signature tattooed on themselves. However, when the MySpace platform faded away, so did his fanbase, leading him to start anew.
Driven by a wide range of musical influences, including Blink 182, Blackbear, Fall Out Boy, Ed Sheeran, and Justin Timberlake, runnerthewriter has reinvented himself with a new alias and project. With the recent release of his debut single and music video for “Sunset” on May 12th, 2023, followed by his second single, “Mine,” on June 16th, runnerthewriter is on the path to success once again.
His upcoming album, “The Hard Part,” promises to deliver an authentic and relatable experience for listeners. Through his music, runnerthewriter aims to connect with his audience, reminding them that everyone faces their own “hard parts” in life and that beauty can emerge from even the darkest struggles.
As runnerthewriter continues to pursue his passion and share his uplifting music, audiences can expect to be inspired, motivated, and reminded that they are not alone in their hardships.
