The Fibro Compass: Tami Stackelhouse’s New Destination for Fibromyalgia Care

By: Deb Monfette

A new era of fibromyalgia education and empowerment is here. With the launch of The Fibro Compass℠, award-winning author and advocate Tami Stackelhouse is creating a true destination for hope, healing, and well-supported guidance for people living with fibromyalgia.

As the founder of the International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute (IFCI)—a coaching institute dedicated entirely to fibromyalgia—and host of the Fibromyalgia Podcast®, ranked in the top 1% according to Listen Notes, Stackelhouse is expanding her mission to make trusted information and compassionate support more accessible to everyone. Together, her blog, podcast, and training academy form a comprehensive resource for patients, coaches, and healthcare professionals seeking direction on the path to wellness.

For millions living with fibromyalgia, a condition often dismissed or misunderstood, hope can feel like an inaccessible luxury. Stackelhouse says, “Your world should revolve around your healing, not your illness.”

We sat down with Tami to talk about finding direction, hope, and practical tools for fibromyalgia care.

Q: Tami, congratulations on launching The Fibro Compass! What inspired you to create it?

Stackelhouse: Thank you! The Fibro Compass℠ was born out of a deep desire to help patients find direction and reclaim their lives. Every day, I meet people who feel completely lost after being diagnosed. They’re overwhelmed by pain, fatigue, and brain fog, and they don’t know where to start. While we already have the Fibromyalgia Podcast® and our YouTube channel, I know many people—myself included—prefer to get their information through reading. Adding a written resource allows us to make our content more accessible and inclusive for everyone, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Fibro Compass is simply another way to guide our community toward hope and wellness, in the format that works best for them.

This blog and online magazine give people a practical, science-based, and compassionate starting point. Each article focuses on real steps they can take right now—from mindset shifts and symptom management to self-advocacy and cultivating hope. Ultimately, it’s about showing people that feeling better may be possible, one small step at a time.

Q: The Fibro Compass℠ feels like such a comprehensive resource. Can you tell us more about what readers will find there—and who’s behind it?

Stackelhouse: Absolutely. The Fibro Compass℠ is really a team effort—it’s written not just by me, but also by guest contributors from around the world. Every contributor is a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® who lives with fibromyalgia, so the advice you’ll read comes from both professional training and lived understanding. We cover everything from practical symptom management—like brain fog, sleep, and pacing—to mindset, self-advocacy, and navigating healthcare. It’s designed to be the go-to guide for fibromyalgia education, giving readers reliable, compassionate information they can actually use. My dream is for anyone searching for fibromyalgia answers to find The Fibro Compass℠ and realize they’re finally in the right place.

Q: You’ve become one of the trusted voices in fibromyalgia care. What makes your approach different?

Stackelhouse: My approach is rooted in both lived experience and joy. I was once completely disabled by fibromyalgia. I know what it’s like to be told there’s nothing that can be done. But through years of research, trial, and error, I built a framework that helped me reach significant improvement, and it’s now helped thousands of others improve their symptoms by 50–75%.

The Fibromyalgia Wellness Framework℠ combines what the science says with what actually works in real life. It’s about listening to your body, tracking your symptoms, and rebuilding your energy and resilience step by step. While most programs focus on only two areas—lifestyle and mindset, or lifestyle and physical health—my holistic approach integrates all three. It helps patients address what’s going wrong physically while making the lifestyle and mindset shifts needed to potentially improve their symptoms and thrive with fibromyalgia. Most importantly, we do it all with hope and joy, because healing isn’t just about feeling better—it’s about reclaiming your life.

Q: Your podcast just reached the top 1% globally according to Listen Notes. What do you think resonates most with listeners?

Stackelhouse: Authenticity. Every episode comes from a place of understanding, joy, and hope. I feature guests who live with fibromyalgia and have learned to manage it successfully. I share my own experience and explain the “why” behind what we go through. I also interview experts who deepen that understanding with the latest science and practical advice.

We talk about everything: how to reduce pain and fatigue, manage brain fog, advocate with doctors, and even how to say no so you can say yes to the things that matter most. My listeners tell me it’s like sitting down with a friend who gets it–someone who can make them laugh, remind them they’re not alone, and help them believe that feeling better might be possible.

Q: Between The Fibro Compass℠ and the podcast, you’re creating a real ecosystem of support. What’s your bigger vision for these platforms?

Stackelhouse: I want people to know there’s hope and there’s help. My vision is for what we’ve created, including the International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute, The Fibromyalgia Podcast®, The Fibro Compass℠, and our YouTube channel, to become valuable destinations for anyone affected by fibromyalgia, whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been struggling for years.

I want patients to know their illness is real, they’re not alone – and that there’s so much that can be done to treat fibromyalgia. Through our network of Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® graduates, we’re building a worldwide community of people who understand fibromyalgia and can guide others through it. We’re also actively cultivating diversity within our coaching programs so every voice and background is represented. My dream is that one day, every fibromyalgia patient will have access to a coach who truly understands their culture and life situation. It’s about community, education, and empowerment.

Q: What message do you have for someone who feels hopeless or unheard right now?

Stackelhouse: First, I want them to know that what they’re feeling is real and that it’s not their fault, nor is it “all in their heads.” Fibromyalgia is a real physical condition, not a psychological one.

Second, I want them to know that feeling better is possible. There’s so much that can be done to treat fibromyalgia symptoms—even if their doctor doesn’t know where to start. It’s not the doctor’s fault; medical schools in the United States provide an average of only nine hours of training on pain management—and that includes all types of pain, both acute and chronic. Working with a Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® helps fill that gap in knowledge by offering education, personalized guidance, accountability, and support. Healing is not an overnight process, but it is achievable. My mantra is: Your world should revolve around your healing, not your illness.
