Behind the Highlight Reel, Lisa L. Baker Wants High Achievers to Redefine Success

By: Lisa Baker Media

You know the feed: the promotion post, the stage photo, the “#unbothered” caption. Former Fortune 500 executive Lisa L. Baker knows what it means to look successful from the outside. Now, through her new program Beyond Success™, she’s asking what’s actually happening off-camera.

Every industry has its own version of the highlight reel. In business and leadership circles, it looks like the milestone post: the new title, the keynote stage, the team photo captioned “so proud of what we built.” It’s real, but it’s also curated, and it rarely shows what’s happening underneath it.

Leadership coach Lisa L. Baker spent more than two decades building exactly that kind of resume, holding senior roles at Citigroup, Microsoft, and Synchrony before starting her own firm, Ascentim®. From that vantage point, on both sides of the camera, she noticed something a lot of accomplished people don’t say out loud. Hitting the milestone doesn’t automatically make you feel like you’ve arrived.

That gap between external success and internal fulfillment is what led Baker to create Beyond Success™. The 12-week program is now accepting applications at the program site, and it’s aimed squarely at leaders who look, from the outside, as if they’ve already made it.

“‘Should’ is always someone else’s agenda for your life,” Baker said. “Leaders often build very successful careers only to find themselves dissatisfied because they never stopped to ask what they truly wanted.”

The Follower Count Isn’t The Point

Personal brands live and die by metrics: followers, engagement, reach, deal flow. Baker isn’t anti-metric. She’s built and scaled a company. But she argues that leaders who orient their entire identity around external scorekeeping, whatever the scoreboard happens to be, eventually hit the same wall, where the numbers keep climbing and the satisfaction doesn’t climb with them.

Through Ascentim®, she’s spent years coaching leaders and teams on how they think, connect, and make decisions under pressure. Beyond Success™ narrows that focus to a specific audience: people who are already winning by every visible measure and are ready to ask a much less Instagrammable question: What do I actually want, separate from what I think I should want?

What’s Actually Inside The Program

Beyond Success™ is built around a simple three-part arc, captured in the program’s own tagline: Reclaim Yourself. Redefine Success. Rise to Your Greatness.

Reclaim Yourself: move beyond the “shoulds” and expectations accumulated along the way and reconnect with who you are and what you value.

Redefine Success: question the metrics that were inherited rather than chosen, and decide, on purpose, what winning actually means.

Rise to Your Greatness: find the overlap between strengths, passions, and purpose, Baker’s “Area of Greatness™,” and start operating from there instead of from habit.

None of it is staged for an audience. There’s no camera crew, no content calendar. It’s 12 weeks of deeply personal work focused on what’s happening beyond the highlight reel. For a lot of high achievers, that is exactly what has been missing.

Twelve Seats, On Purpose

Instead of building for scale, Baker capped each Beyond Success™ cohort at 12 participants for a 12-week virtual run. It’s a deliberately small room, small enough that no one can hide behind a polished LinkedIn version of themselves. Participants work through the patterns behind their choices, get specific about what they actually want, discover their Area of Greatness™, and leave with an action plan instead of just a good conversation.

Applications for the current cohort are open at LeadBoldlyWithLisa.com.
