Will Elmgren, also known as The Clouded Barber, has a unique story that has propelled him to become a successful barber and influencer. Starting as a hip-hop artist in a group called Orbit X, he collaborated with artists such as Sadat X from Brand Nubian, and also did a mixtape that featured known artists. He would also perform at the Opera House as well and a few other spots around the city of Toronto. During that time, Will would cut his own hair before performing with the group. People were always impressed with his haircut, but they never believed that he did it himself. This sparked an idea in Will’s mind, and he began cutting his friends’ hair, eventually building a small shop in his garage with his father’s help.
As his business started to grow, Will got caught up with the wrong crowd, which threatened to derail his dream. However, he decided to enroll in a hairstyling program after his mother suggested it, which helped him get back on track. He then transitioned back to barbering and studied the techniques and customer service skills of successful barbers on YouTube.
After obtaining experience at various barbershops, Will found a great team at the Barbershop Vaughan Mills outside the Vaughan Mills shopping center, where he has been for the past 9 years. He has built a loyal client base over the years and even participated in the Flawless Fade Championship at the Iconic Men Expo.
Will’s journey has not been without its challenges. Dealing with and controlling his social anxiety has been a significant hurdle, but he has learned to overcome it with practice and by surrounding himself with positive and supportive people. Will’s family has been a constant source of inspiration and support, and he also credits several YouTube influencers, including seancutshair, for inspiring him.
Will’s story is about his determination to pursue his dream despite the setbacks he faced. He learned from his mistakes and used them as motivation to become a better person and a better barber. His loyal client base is a testament to his skills and customer service, which has helped him to build a successful brand. Will’s next step is to open his own barbershop/suite and continue to provide quality haircuts while growing increasingly as a barber and as a human being.
