Liang Holdings Founder Wayne Liang Shares His Entrepreneurship Journey

Visionary entrepreneur Wayne Liang had a clear picture of what he wanted to become in life early on—someone very successful in the business world. Just as he was confident in this direction, he also had a clear foresight as to how he wanted to impact the communities of the world. Being able to translate his success into acts of service to underprivileged communities became one of the many defining attributes of his abilities as a businessman and philanthropist. 

His unique and impressive entrepreneurial journey started in 2014, a few months before he was expected to begin his college education. He established a social media marketing brand that specializes in creative marketing strategies that reached millions of people online. In under two years, his efforts were able to generate more than three million followers, a feat that was made possible through his uncommon perspective on digital marketing. 

While pursuing a degree in Pharmacology at the University of Alberta, Wayne worked tirelessly to effectively divide his time between his studies and his online venture. Interestingly, despite the challenge of having to create a healthy balance between his two commitments, he received several scholarships for his exceptional academic performance, and his newly established business was making a lot of progress, generating a six-figure yearly income. His company eventually started providing services to some of the biggest brands, such as Calvin Klein and Audemars Piguet. 

Seeing that there was so much potential in what he started, he thought of an inventive way to grow his business. “Instead of advertising for all these companies and making them so much money, I wanted to advertise for my own companies and drive all that traffic into brands that I own,” Wayne Liang explained. “I created half a dozen companies, all in the same industry as if they were competing with each other,” Wayne Liang shared. “On the customers’ end, they’re shopping at different companies. They’ll do their due diligence and decide which company they want to stick with, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which company they choose. I own all of them,” he added. 

He turned down his childhood dream to teach after receiving a letter of acceptance for the Faculty of Pharmacology. This season of his life became a turning point as he focused all his energy on achieving massive expansion.

His strategy eventually paved the way for him to enter the private-label and wholesale industry, where he found himself working closely with multiple suppliers to provide high-quality products for his customers. Without hesitation, he established his own e-commerce business and, as can be expected of him, became highly successful in it as well. While his new venture generated eight to nine figures annually, the repetitive routine eventually drove him into exploring other ventures. His e-commerce business, however, remains passively operated today and continues to bring in a good deal of money.

“Eventually, I was introduced into the finance industry, where I found interest in private equity and venture capital investments. I’d be meeting entrepreneurs in the big leagues, people who are in positions I want to be in,” he revealed. 

At this point in his entrepreneurial journey, Wayne is focusing on his investment firm and providing funding opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs who believe in the long-term value of their ideas. He always makes time to expand his network by connecting with other entrepreneurs from around the world. Apart from this, he also prioritizes the creation of his lifelong legacy through his philanthropic efforts. When it comes to giving others a lasting message that will define their purpose, the unstoppable entrepreneur has this to say: “Find out what you’re passionate about, find a way to tie that into improving other peoples’ lives, and your business will thrive.”
