The number of low-income individuals facing homelessness has been rising over the past few years, and although the number was already going up pre-pandemic, the health crisis brought about an even sharper rise. Wars, inflation, and looming recession predictions have also made it harder to cope financially.
On a mission to help underserved individuals regain their foothold and be self-sufficient, Investors Academy stands as an organization that provides a safe haven for underprivileged people and families in Metro Atlanta, including homeless veterans, the hungry, the unemployed and jobless, people with disabilities, people living with chronic illnesses like HIV or AIDS, and ex-offenders reintegrating into society. Following its goal of assisting individuals from various backgrounds, the Investors Academy has created numerous programs that can help elevate the standard of living of those in need.
The Investors Academy started as a way to empower low-income individuals, families, and communities to forge a path toward self-sufficiency, spark action, and impact lives. It differs from other organizations in that it provides access to all of its resources once a person joins one of its programs. The organization also offers food, employment options, and training for a living so that participants would receive support as they transition into society.
The Investors Academy has different kinds of programs designed to meet the unique needs of every people group represented by different ages and preferences. Under the umbrella of Investors Academy are initiatives like the Supportive Permanent Housing Program, Youth Outreach Program, and Youth Apprenticeship.
The Supportive Permanent Housing Program offers homeless veterans case management and housing assistance in the form of permanent housing placement at its facility with 15 single-occupancy beds.
Furthermore, as it serves all at-risk youth living below the poverty line in Metro Atlanta, Georgia, the Investors Academy has created the Youth Job Training Program, which prioritizes at-risk youth experiencing various difficulties, such as homelessness, unemployment, recovering substance abuse addicts, and mental health. It seeks to help young people with no resources to support their efforts to build a career.
On top of all its offerings, the Investors Academy has a remarkable intervention initiative to help those who need support and guidance. It provides young people with fantastic opportunities and helps them realize their career goals through its various programs. It also teaches them money management and saving, career planning counseling, and connects them to jobs, educational opportunities, and apprenticeship projects.
The Investors Academy’s many programs have thrived through the leadership of its Housing Director, Montra McKenzie, an active community member, philanthropist, advocate, and changemaker. This trailblazer has been creating waves around the globe for many years, greatly influencing the development of numerous people and communities. With her at the helm, the Investors Academy has impacted many lives this year by serving 3,000 families, housing 500 homeless veterans, coaching and training over 300 people, and giving jobs to another 300 beneficiaries.
Currently, the demand for the services of Investors Academy grows yearly, outpacing the funding and resources that can be made available. Its ability to handle increased program demand will directly impact its daily operations thanks to a grant award. That is also why the team behind the organization aims to share its vision with generous donors, community leaders, and business partners.
