Roberta Boyea on Starting Over at Almost 50

Roberta Boyea was working four jobs when she decided something had to change.

She was approaching 50. She had been a teacher. What she did not have was a clear sense of what came next.

Thirteen years later she owns Elevate 518 Nutrition and spends her days doing work she chose rather than work she needed.

Looking for her own answer first

Roberta’s start was personal before it was professional. She was searching for better health and a different direction, in that order.

What she found changed enough for her that she wanted to pass it on. That interest in helping other people eventually became a full-time business rather than a side project.

Seven years ago she opened Elevate 518 Nutrition. She has been an Herbalife independent distributor for 13 years and reached the company’s 1 million lifetime volume milestone in November 2025. In 2026 she completed her Go Pro certification.

Watching it close

The hardest stretch came after Elevate was established.

Roberta had helped several other people open their own nutrition clubs. Over the next few years, every one of those clubs closed.

She does not soften what that felt like. It was difficult to watch something she had worked hard to help build come apart.

What she took from it is a boundary she now keeps. She can offer guidance, encouragement, and support. She cannot control every outcome, and trying to was costing her.

So she narrowed her focus to what she could actually affect. Showing up consistently. Strengthening relationships with her customers. Serving the community in front of her.

Her method since has been simple. Keep learning, adjust when something is not working, and stay connected to the reason she started.

What Elevate is for

Roberta describes Elevate 518 Nutrition less as a business than as a place.

The shakes and teas are part of it. So are the challenges and fit camps. But what she is actually trying to build is somewhere people feel supported and encountered rather than processed.

Accountability matters to her, and so does belonging. She thinks most people fail at health goals alone and do better in a room with others doing the same thing.

Her teaching background shows up here. Roberta spent years helping people learn, and the instinct did not go away when she changed careers. She is still teaching, just a different subject.

On stage at 58

In 2025, Roberta stepped on stage at the NGA East Coast Classic and took first place in two categories, Figure Masters Over 50 and Figure Novice.

How she measures it

Roberta measures success by what people tell her.

She listens for the changes people report in themselves, and for the habits they build and keep. Those matter to her more than any single result.

The part she names as most rewarding is watching someone become proud of what they accomplished, and knowing she had something to do with it.

She also wants people to see possibilities they had written off, in the same way her own path opened up when she did not expect it to.

Never too late

Roberta returns to her timeline deliberately, because it is the point.

She started at almost 50, working multiple jobs, without a plan. Thirteen years later she has a business built on the skills she already had.

She is proud of the distance covered and she says so plainly. What she sounds more interested in is the people she has not met yet.

Her message to anyone reading at a similar crossroads is short. It is never too late to find a new direction and build something that means something.
