For decades, menopause was often treated as a hush-hush topic, something women endured quietly with little conversation or support. But times have changed. Gen X women are increasingly choosing not to follow the outdated playbook of previous generations. Instead, Allie Theiss, MSc, CSC, ABS, a Menopausal Care Provider and Integrative Wellness Coach, is helping women reclaim the menopause conversation by advocating for better treatments, more research, and a holistic approach to well-being.
“Gen X women are often more vocal and empowered than ever. We’re not willing to sit quietly through menopause or accept outdated treatments,” Theiss explains. “Women deserve solutions that address the whole person—physically, mentally, and emotionally.”
As a woman who grew up in the 80s and 90s, Theiss came of age during the rise of feminism, witnessing shifts in workplace equality and reproductive rights alongside open discussions about mental health. Social media has become a powerful tool in this movement, with women openly sharing their menopause journeys, debunking myths, and creating communities for support and education.
Unlike previous generations, who may have felt isolated in their experiences, these women are increasingly refusing to go through menopause alone. From TikTok influencers discussing hormone therapy to Facebook groups sharing holistic remedies, these women are making menopause a mainstream conversation, and they hope the healthcare industry will listen.
Historically, menopause treatments have been limited, with many doctors offering little more than “just deal with it” advice or prescribing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) without addressing the broader effects of menopause. However, women today are beginning to challenge this approach, seeking out alternative and integrative methods to support their overall well-being.
Theiss, the creator of the Thrive Framework™, a six-pillar integrative wellness framework, helps menopausal women navigate this life stage with confidence and vitality.
“Menopause is not just about hormones; it’s about the whole person. Sleep, nutrition, mental health, relationships, and lifestyle all play a role,” Theiss shares. Her approach combines holistic practices with evidence-based strategies to help women thrive rather than merely survive during menopause.
Her commitment to comprehensive care has earned her national recognition, including features in Cosmopolitan and partnerships with platforms like Maven Clinic and MenoWave, where she provides expert guidance to women in menopause and postpartum.
Theiss’s Thrive Framework™ aims to transform menopausal care by offering women a holistic, non-pharmaceutical alternative that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Through her signature approach, she offers a six-month private journey that guides women through menopause using holistic practices designed to restore balance and well-being. This comprehensive framework includes six core pillars: nutrition, mental health, physical activity, stress management, lifestyle adjustments, and spiritual well-being.
By addressing these six pillars, Theiss strives to help women experience menopause as a time of empowerment rather than decline. Her work helps women shift their mindset from menopause as an ending to a new beginning filled with possibilities. Theiss empowers women through menopause, offering resources she wishes she had access to earlier. Recognizing it as a major life transition, she champions preparedness and empowerment.
Beyond coaching, she provides virtual retreats, online resources, and a monthly menopause care package, MenoBox.
Her “Empower HER” retreat in early 2025 is a virtual event designed to help women re-ignite their passion, power, and pleasure through menopause and beyond.
Addressing Gen X’s evolving needs, she challenges outdated norms and advocates for workplace menopause awareness, pushing for gender equality. Theiss believes menopause is a new chapter for reclaiming power and prioritizing well-being, transforming it into a period of growth and self-discovery.
“We’re finally in an era where menopause is being recognized as an important stage of life that deserves attention and care,” she says. “Women don’t have to suffer in silence anymore. They have the power to take control of their health and well-being.”
Gen X women are showing that menopause is not something to be endured but embraced. By being vocal, demanding more, and seeking holistic solutions, they are paving the way for future generations to experience menopause with dignity, knowledge, and support. This is not their mother’s menopause—it’s an entirely new movement, and it’s only getting louder.
